Moving and Positioning Training Wales

Acumen Care Education has been delivering the All Wales Moving and Handling Passport Scheme for the past 13 years. During this time we have become one of the leading deliverers of this vital mandatory training, and have become the “go to” provider for many county councils. As well as our comprehensive “Train the Trainer” programmes (link) we provide direct training to a wide variety of customers, particularly in residential elderly care and domiciliary support.

Our Courses

All Wales Moving and Handling Passport (2 Days)

Designed in accordance with the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) All Wales Passport Scheme, this course ensures your staff are trained to a minimum standard.

Who Should Attend

Anyone working in the Health and Social Care industry. This course can also be adapted to meet the standards of the NHS All Wales Passport Scheme.

Course Content

The course will cover:

  • Legislation relating to Manual Handling
  • Musculo-Skeletal injuries/disorders
  • The purpose and use of risk assessments
  • Safe techniques & practice using a variety of equipment

Benefits Of The Course

By attending this course learners will be provided with the most current information relating to Manual Handling. Learners will be able to practice their skills and more importantly implement them in the workplace, to maintain safety of themselves and others. This course meets the All Wales Induction Framework and QCF standards. Learners undertaking their QCF can be provided with information that will support their units.

Assessment

Learners will undergo formative assessments throughout the course, along with practical based work and a short multiple-choice assessment.

Duration

In line with the WLGA, this course is delivered over 14 hours. All Manual Handling All Wales Passport courses are 2 days in length, with both days being delivered consecutively. 

Venue

Delivery of this course will take place out of our fit for purpose venue in Cardiff.

All Wales Moving and Handling Passport (1 Day Refresher)

Designed in accordance with the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) All Wales Passport Scheme, this course ensures that you staff maintain their skills and practices in the workplace.

Who Should Attend

Anyone working in the Health and Social Care industry. This course can also be adapted to meet the standards of the NHS All Wales Passport Scheme.

Course Content

The course will cover:

  • Review of Manual Handling theory
  • Safe use of hoists, slide sheets and slings
  • Supporting a person to sit, stand & walk
  • Safe use of standing and seated transfers

Benefits Of The Course

By attending this course, learners will be provided with updated knowledge, skills and practices of Manual Handling of people.  Learners will be able to identify safer ways of working with necessary equipment and to share best practice with their peers and trainers.

Assessment

Learners will undergo formative assessments throughout the course, along with practical based work.
